Sakura, The River and the Skies

Today, I am here again in Tsuchiura, the hometown of Haruma Miura.  

今日は、三浦春馬さんの故郷である土浦に再び来ています。

Today, on what would have been his 36th birthday, we gather once more to release balloons for Haruma — now for the fourth time since his sudden passing in 2020.  

本日、春馬さんの36歳の誕生日であるこの日に、私たちは再び集まり、風船を空へと放ちます。2020年の突然の出来事から、今回で4回目です。

This initiative did not begin immediately.  

The call for reinvestigation began in September 2021, when many people found the courage to speak, to question, and to seek the truth.  

この活動はすぐに始まったものではありません。2021年9月、多くの人々が声を上げ、疑問を持ち、真実を求め始めたことから始まりました。

From that movement, the first balloon release was held in 2022, on what would have been Haruma’s 32nd birthday, here in Tsuchiura.  

その想いから、2022年、春馬さんの32歳の誕生日に、ここ土浦で初めての風船リリースが行われました。

Since then, every year, we return.  

Not only to remember, but to show that we have not forgotten.  

Not only to grieve, but to continue seeking truth, accountability, and justice.  

それ以来、私たちは毎年ここに戻ってきます。忘れないために、そして真実と説明責任、そして正義を求め続けるために。

Yesterday, I took a quiet walk along the riverside of Kasumigaura.  

昨日、霞ヶ浦の川沿いを静かに歩きました。

The sakura trees were in full bloom, their delicate petals stretching along the river like soft clouds under the blue sky.  

桜は満開で、青空の下、まるで柔らかな雲のように川沿いに広がっていました。

Yellow flowers lined the path, and the river flowed gently, embracing a peaceful stillness.  

道には黄色い花が咲き、川は穏やかに流れ、静かな時間が流れていました。

Standing on the bridge, I looked out over the water and the endless rows of cherry blossoms.  

橋の上に立ち、水面と続く桜並木を見渡しました。

This place holds a special meaning — it was also a filming location for Haruma’s early movie, Crows Zero 2, when he was still in his teens.  

この場所は特別な意味を持っています。春馬さんが10代の頃に出演した映画「クローズZERO II」のロケ地でもあるのです。

It felt as though time had quietly overlapped — the young Haruma who once stood here, and all of us who stand here now.  

かつてここに立っていた若き春馬さんと、今ここに立つ私たちの時間が、静かに重なったように感じました。

Today, the sakura trees of Tsuchiura stand as silent witnesses to our gathering.  

今日、土浦の桜は静かに私たちを見守っています。

Each balloon we release carries a message — of love, remembrance, unanswered questions, and hope.  

空へ放たれる一つ一つの風船には、愛、記憶、未解決の想い、そして希望が込められています。

Hope that one day, the truth will come to light.  

いつか真実が明らかになることを願って。

Four years have passed, yet our hearts remain the same.  

4年が経った今も、私たちの想いは変わりません。

We still remember.  

We still ask.  

We still seek the truth.  

私たちは忘れません。問い続けます。真実を求め続けます。

We also extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who worked tirelessly to make this gathering possible.  

そして、この活動を支えてくださったすべての方々に、心より感謝申し上げます。

And to all of Haruma’s fans around the world, who continue to keep his memory alive and seek the truth — thank you.  

そして世界中で春馬さんを想い続け、記憶を守り、真実を求め続けるファンの皆様へ、本当にありがとうございます。

Haruma, today we release these balloons to the sky for you.  

春馬さん、今日、私たちはあなたへ風船を空へ届けます。

Happy 36th Birthday.  

お誕生日おめでとうございます。

You are not forgotten.  

あなたは忘れられていません。

And we will continue to seek the truth.
