AND THE MYSTERY CONTINUES...

I'm sure most are aware of the recent "missing photo" incident at the NHK Taiga Drama "Naotora, the Lady Castle Lord" retrospective exhibition”. The event is sponsored by the Tourism and City Promotion Division of Hamamatsu City, which is taking place at the Hamamatsu City Regional Heritage Center, from 2023.01.31 to 2024.01.14. Apparently, one of Haruma's fans who visited the exhibition on the premier day was surprised to discover that no photo of Haruma was displayed on the main exhibit panel (just Haruma's and his character's name were displayed). And in light of the abnormal finding, this fan initiated an inquiry with the event organizer who responded: "AMUSE, the management office, did not give permission to use the photo."

A couple of days later on 2023.02.02, NHK posted a notice on the Hamamatsu-Ieyasu website, indicating the non-display of the photo is "due to a mistake in confirming the rights of our company which received the installation order; the corrected display panel will be exhibited on 2023.02.04."

Then on 2023.02.03, AMUSE posted a statement on their legal department's Twitter account: “In the past few days, incorrect information has been spread about the non-posting photo of our artist displayed at the retrospective exhibition. We are also saddened by the heartache of our fans. In the future, please do not be misled by incorrect information. I am always grateful to all the fans for taking care of the artist."

While I don't fully understand NHK's notice, what they meant by "confirming the rights of our company", and what exactly is involved in the process, this notice was clearly issued to back up and protect AMUSE, implying no responsibility or wrongdoings on the agency's part.  On the other hand, I find AMUSE's statement totally appalling!!! A message filled with ambiguity, arrogance, disrespect, and insincerity!!! It's really not the normal, professional communication style one would expect from a large organization's legal department. Why didn't they specify the name of the exhibition? Why didn't they spell out Haruma's name?

Although the exhibition panel has since been updated to include Haruma's photo, I'm sorry to say that, in my opinion, all the organizations involved are suitable to be called a disgrace. It is shocking and unacceptable how a public event can allow such sloppiness and unprofessional management!!! Shouldn't every single process be reviewed and ensured of proper completion, before the event officially launches???

I'd like to invite everyone to give some thoughts on the following questions. Please do not forget to exercise common sense and critical thinking!!!
  • Of the many characters, why only Haruma's photo was missing?
  • Had Haruma's fan not raised an inquiry with the organizer, will the exhibition continue till the end, without Haruma's photo on display?
  • Why was this incident not reported by any of the mainstream media?
  • Why did the organizer advise the fan that the "missing photo" was due to the agency's disapproval, which is contradictory to NHK and AMUSE's statements?
  • Who's telling the truth? Who's lying?

  2. NHK needs to provide further explanations on the mistake they claimed responsibility of. It makes no sense that, out of the many characters' photos, why only Haruma's was not included in the exhibition panel in the first place? And why did the event organizer allow the exhibition to open to the public when the error is totally avoidable? Could they not delay the opening until they receive a panel with all photos on display???!!! If they cannot elaborate and clearly explain the reasons, it only gives the suspicion that it was a MISTAKE DELIBERATELY MADE, to belittle Haruma, and to cause grief to Haruma's fans!!! And it really puzzles me, why can't these people give Haruma the proper respect he deserves, even after more than two & a half years he's been gone? The bullying continues, the mystery continues...
